About Talwood Manor Bed and Breakfast
Built in 1915 by one of Port Colborne's influential families, the Lannan home remained under their ownership until the mid- 80's with only two other families owning this unique property. Then in 2004, while I was looking for a new adventure, this lovely residential, century old home became Talwood Manor Bed & Breakfast. For another nine years while operating the bed and breakfast, I worked as a nurse until taking an early retirement in 2013. Hard work but I wouldn't change one bit!Originally thinking my guests would be the adult children of parents who have downsized, I was greatly mistaken. Many influential people have booked into my bed and breakfast. At the bed and breakfast our guests have included many notable individuals. Our former Prime Minister John Turner for one. Additionally a number of Canadian authors, screenwriters and actors. They include Gordon Pinsent, Lloyd Robertson of CTV fame and Yann Martel. And last, but not least, our very own William J. Thomas screenwriter, humourist, author and columnist. My other guests include many interesting international travelers as well. It is such a treat for me! I can literally travel the world as they share their experiences with me. My guests, regardless of who they are, have been a delight!
Another joy of operating a bed and breakfast is that I can help you find those hidden locations. Or, you may prefer to discover them on your own. It's totally up to the you, the guest. When you are content, so am I.
Guests continue to return year after year. They enjoy the original charm of this historic home, as well as sitting in the garden gazebo, listening to the birds and the bubbling fountain. Though normally in our private residence when indoors, some of our guests also enjoy a friendly visit with our cats Mr. Maury and Macy while relaxing in the garden.
Talwood Manor Bed & Breakfast is open year 'round and most holidays. We love to decorate seasonally inside and out. We also offer modern amenities, with private off-street parking. So come along, experience the unique, make some memories and enjoy the natural beauty, beaches and wine regions of the Canadian Niagara Falls.
